Massive Attack - Paradise Circus (Gui Boratto Remix)

Late night.  Alone.  In winter.  A sweeping late night beauty of a song with a delightful rumbling bassline, and a devilish woman slowly singing over the deep house kind of thing.  Sometimes I run out of words to say and this is one of those times because it is late at night and the brain is vaguely functioning enough to appreciate.

Late night beauty.

DJ W!ld - Dream Of Me

I am really loving proper underground minimal house at the moment, with huge breakdowns where you come to the conclusion that it is never coming back in.

Delicious.

Boobs are good too.

Solomun – Kackvogel

This guitar-laced house track is apparently the sound of Philly.  It is very cool, just like the cheese but melts at times into warm bassline vocal love.  Videos with bearded men dancing always help.

Guy J - Fixation

Trance is back.  I said it.  I cannot wait to get a bit of trance in my life.

But it has grown up a lot as this track will tell you and is much deeper than it's previous incarnation and this is a remix of a very well-known trance tune from the heyday - so well known I cannot remember (obviously because I have wiped my memory of trance) but even if I did I wouldn't tell you.

Don't hide - trance is here again.

Jordan Peak - What Is House?

This is very at the minute kind of garage/house crossover by an up and coming producer who is on my radar more and more all the time.

The Martinez Brothers - H 2 Da Izzo

Being hammered by Jamie Jones and Art Department - it is a pretty average unremarkable track for half of it but the synth stabs are just the definition of sick in the world of synthesisers.

Kim English - Nitelife (Alexis Raphael remix)

Perhaps this should not be remixed but I love the bassline.  End of.  And it quite amuses me.

Duke Dumont - Thunder Clap

Ooh I didn't expect this, I nearly gave up during the introduction but suddenly an almost old school kind of house track kicks in with an aggressive drum beat and some slightly cheesy "whoops" but they work as a perfect counter-balance.

Being played by Seth Troxler and Laurent Garnier.

Saarid - Future Lately (Walker & Royce Remix)

Yes all about the gorgeous rolling bassline and the drop.  Not forgetting the dogs barking.  Anyone else hear them?

Nathan Barato – Back Up Queen

Chunky, groovy house about a wig looking like a helmet.  Just imagine your favourite drag queen having an argument with the hand dryer in the toilets of your favourite club.

Tiga – Pleasure From The Bass (Subb-an Remix)

An upgrading and rebranding of a mid-2000’s electro classic (for those of you who don’t know, Tiga was cooler than cool circa 2004 pre-minimal), this really brings the track into a more modern, underground house world.

Tuesday 13 November 2012

Julio Bashmore – Au Seve

This is unlike most tracks on here and definitely has a style of it's own - though with over a million views already you may have heard it!  Sick bassline, excellent melody.  And his own Radio 1 show.

Second appearance on my blog.

11.11 - Tourist Trap (Guy Gerber & David K remix)

You've probably heard the Jamie Jones remix which absolutely smashed it.

This takes the best parts, totally strips it down in a nice kind of chugging underground minimal house sound.  Very groovy and quite the tease.

Kate Simko – Go On Then

Really simple but a treasure to listen to.  This was a real grower and took a fair few listens for me to decide to give it 'top tune' status.  Enjoy.

Hex Complexx – I Want You (The Dash Riprock Mix)

This is a ridiculously cool house track from 25 years ago with one or two rather recognisable samples, definitely a touch of 80’s electro coolness and some jazz.  Don’t get stuff like this nowadays.

Tuesday 6 November 2012

Phonique – Vincent Price (Dub)

Definitely a hairs standing up kind of track, smooth, melodic and deep, almost a little trance in its hypnotism.

Don’t hear too many tracks from Phonique but the quality of production never lets you down.

DJ Slugo - Wouldn't You Like To Be a Ho Too

There's some ho's in this house, if you see them point them out.

Ghetto-tech at it's most educational and instructional.  Another one on regular play by the wonderful Nina Kraviz.  I would love to play this in somewhere full of chavs.

Friday 2 November 2012

Mr. Gone - Do 4 Love (Radio Slave Remix)

One of those long hypnotic ever-rising techno remixes from the fantastic Radio Slave.

Quite a touch of emotion.

Dj HMC - Marauder

Uncompromising Australian techno track introduced to me via a brilliant Nina Kraviz set - not the best sound quality but the video will more than make up for it.
